Ray Merrihew
The most important aspect for effectiveness in counseling or therapy is the connection - the therapeutic alliance - that develops between the counselor and the client. I strive to help you feel comfortable here, and above all safe. I do this by treating you with respect, by listening to you, and by providing feedback or asking questions when it feels appropriate. You are always in control. People often remark how peaceful it is here.

The techniques or methods a therapist uses are a quite secondary to the therapeutic alliance, and vary with the person and their situation. These are some, but not all, of the ones I sometimes use.
